Job Summary

Key Duties

  • Operating switchboard, answering, and forwarding incoming telephone calls
  • Transferring calls to the appropriate person or department
  • Record and forward telephone messages to the relevant offices.
  • Update the company’s internal telephone directory.
  • Report telephone faults to the Technician.
  • Handle emergency calls.
  • Assist staff in making long-distance calls.
  • Provide staff with area codes, telephone numbers and other information.
  • Interrupt a busy line if there is an emergency.
  • Place a person-to-person call.
  • Handle all directory assistance queries.
  • Working with Security Control personnel in switchboard handover/takeover

Education + Experience

Certificate in Reception.

  • 3 years experience in customer service or administration.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Experience in a customer service role (preferred)
  • Ability to operate a telephone switchboard
  • Strong listening, interpersonal and mediation skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of a second language
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
